I’m an award-winning freelance journalist, podcaster and speaker. Email me to commission work or come and chat to me on social media.

Hi, I’m Yvette Caster, a freelance journalist, podcaster and speaker

I am a journalist of more than 15 years, who began as a patch reporter on regional papers before achieving management positions on UK nationals. I’ve managed Metro’s iPad editions, ran Metro.co.uk’s Platform section, launched two podcasts, and subbed and written for everyone from Vice and National Geographic to The Mirror, Mail Online and The Times.

I won in-house awards at DMGT (Metro’s parent company) for innovation and creativity. Mentally Yours, the podcast I set up and co-host for Metro.co.uk, has been nominated for industry awards including the Mind Media Awards.

I regularly speak on radio, TV, podcasts and Instagram Lives about mental health and travel, and have joined Claudia Winkleman on BBC Radio 2, Jeremy Vine on Channel 5 and Leah Charles King on Instagram.

I organised Mentally Yours Live, a successful panel event on mental health in the workplace, give talks to young people about how to break into journalism and volunteer my time to Media Trust, a charity that trains young journalists and gives marginalised groups a stronger voice.

Across my career I have been a news reporter, music writer, arts editor, features writer, subeditor, travel editor, commissioning editor and manager. I love writing everything from hard-hitting mental health pieces to colourful travel features, insightful film reviews to fun food pieces.

I have interviewed everyone from Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick to Audley Harrison and Theresa May. If you ask me nicely I might tell you the story of when I rifled through the former PM’s wardrobe.

I am currently writing my first book, a novel based around a character who, like me, has bipolar disorder. It is called A History Of Madness.

Get in touch to discuss commissions, speaking engagements, my book or just to let me know what you thought of my latest podcast or piece.
